TIRED OF PROCRASTINATING?

PROCRASTINATION- majority of us have been caught in this net.

The question is, how do we get out?

Saying it's easy would be lying. But it's not impossible either.

I have put together 10 steps to help you handle your day's better.

Enjoy and take notes.

1. Have a to-do list.  This is probably obvious. So, the question is, why aren't many of us doing this? Having a to-do list makes it easier for you to know what your goals are for the day.  It's advisable to create one at the beginning of each week and add to the list as the days go by.

Make sure not to carry anything from one week into another.

2. Go a step further by creating a daily schedule.

Now this is not for you to overwork yourself, but to help you plan your time better. So, it's important that rest time and time for feeding be included in your schedule. allocate a time of the day to each task. If you have only one task to do per day, then allocate quality time at the most peaceful hour of the day to dedicate yourself to it. If your task involves leaving your house, or going for a gathering, your time Frame should begin 2 hours before the actual time of the outing, so that you can get ready and also prepare for any contingency.

3. Start your day early.

Most of the time, starting your day late has a way of altering your productivity level.

It's always best to be up early, do little exercise and get your body active.

Also, with each passing hour, things begin to come up and catching up might become a problem.

4. Prepare ahead

Get everything ready the night before.

You want to film your YouTube video tomorrow morning?

Get your outfit ready this night.

You have to study tomorrow? Get your books neetly arranged on a desk ahead of time.

You have a date? Have your outfit ready the night before.

You are trying to write a book?  Have your word app open with your topic or your previous lines on your laptop. and put it to sleep.

5. Drink a lot of water.

Not being properly hydrated is actually a cause of fatigue and poor cognition.

Drink water immediately you wake up, then stay hydrated through out the day.

6. Eat well

Just like it is with hydration, you need the strength that comes form eating to put In your best. Hunger can make you sleepy and you end up dozing in the middle of trying to get something done, then you eventually give in, say "I'm tired, let me sleep a little, I'll continue later" and thus the procrastination begins.

7. Sleep.

It's never good to overwork yourself and not get enough sleep.. You will eventually get burned out and make up for the lost sleep by breaking down and taking a compulsory leave from work. But at least, it was for a noble cause.  The major issue here is staying up to do unproductive things and robbing yourself of the time neeeded to get enough strength for the tasks ahead.

Another angle would be wasting the day and your energy on unproductive things and then staying up to do the work you should have done during the day in the midnight when you should be sleeping.

It's okay to have days when you don't want to do anything, but please make sure you're resting not expending energy on things that will stress you even more.

8. Have reminders.

Have both digital and non digital reminders.

So, set reminders in your phone for specific times and also having sticky notes on your wall will help you to stay conscious about what you're doing.

9. Have a vision board.

Sometimes, what you need to get you up and going is a reminder of what you want for yourself.  Give yourself a little motivation by looking at the future that you want. It actually works wonders.

Now, I know it's easier said than done. Which is why number 10 is important

10. Be accountable to someone.

Have someone who can call you out when you're getting slow or distracted again.   You need to be accountable to someone and be ready to recieve feedback and corrections, irrespective of how harsh they may be.  It's not going to be all chummy and cozy.  You must face the reality of life.  Life is tough. If you must be productive, then you must put in the work and you definitely need some iron fists sometimes.

Are you going to give this a try?

Kindly note that this is not only for "serious stuff" if you have planned to hangout with your friends, or take yourself out, follow through, don't let procrastination keep you from enjoyment. Enjoyment is good for your mental health.
